about

My first new solo release in 5 years. Enjoy!

lyrics

Just another bon vivant -
I'm going back to my old haunt;
The coffee's wearing off but I'm still standing.
I'm going back to the same old town
The same old folks still hang around;
Another couple of hours, my plane will be landing.

I'm going back to Babylon.

If I tell it matter of fact,
I'm almost happy to have it back -
The feeling with which I'm so familiar.
I'll get back that longing in my heart
'Cos the longing was the best part
Of when we sat and wrote our blues down by the river.

I'm going back to Babylon.

It's hard to keep your eyes on the prize
When those big old lights have made you too blind to see -
When fighting to the bitter end just ain't what it used to be,
So I'm going back to the only place that I belong -
Back to Babylon.

So this former bon vivant
Ain't gonna hurt or want
Or pine for something good that just don't happen.
There's a better gig somewhere
And I'll be happy then, I swear -
Well I don't know for sure, but I can imagine.

I'm going back to Babylon.

about

Scott Stein Brooklyn, New York

Brooklyn pianist/songwriter Scott Stein takes a moodier turn on his newest EP Uphill; synthesizers swirl and backwards guitars fade in and out like ghosts as Stein's plainspoken vocals take on grief, anxiety, loss and their aftermath. There's some joy too, even if it is hard-earned. Melodies and sly musicianship still form the songs' backbone. Think Ben Folds and Sting channeling Big Star's Third. ... more
