The plane touches down
Just south of town
It's a short drive from the highway to the house
It feels good to leave the city
And it feels so good to finally be back home
So I sit down by the phone but there's no one left to call
They've either moved away and all
Or they've settled down with children of their own.

So here I'm standing outside in the cold
Standing wondering how we got so old
As the cold Ohio wind just chills me down to the marrow.

On the main drag, between the roadblocks
There's a little coffee shop
So I park my father's car and go inside
There's a pretty girl behind the counter
And I feel I must have known her all my life
She's got those warm, inviting dark eyes
And she smiles the same way that I do
And I wonder which one she's married to
She's too old to be working here,
Too young to be a wife.

First morning flight
Before the first morning light
Takes me back to LaGuardia
And I'm staring out the window
And for the first time in days, I'll feel alone.
And when I get back to New York
There'll be someone there to meet me
And the noisy train to greet me
